P# H325K0804-07
The purpose of Culturally Responsive Professionals in Early Childhood Disabilities (CRESPECD pronounced respect) is to prepare 28 teachers certified in Exceptional Student Education, in the field of early childhood special education.
A unique component of the program is the collaborative partnership with the Mailman Center for Child Development (MCCD), the Department of Pediatrics in UM’s Miller School of Medicine. Field based experiences in the masters program include supervised clinical rotations at several MCCD clinics, and are coordinated by the MCCD’s Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) program. Additional collaborative partnerships developed and nurtured by UM comprise a strong community network of partners that provide early intervention and early childhood special education services to young children with disabilities and their families.
Individuals who complete this project receive Master of Science in Education (M.S.Ed.) with concentration Early Childhood Special Education. In addition, Graduates will also be eligible for the State of Florida endorsements in Pre-Kindergarten Disabilities (Pre-K) and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL).
