Editor-in-Chief, The Sage Encyclopedia of the Social and Cultural Foundations of Education (Thousand Oaks, CA: Sage Publications, anticipated publication 2007).
The Sage Encyclopedia of the Social and Cultural Foundations of Education is intended to provide a comprehensive introduction to the social and cultural foundations of education. The projected encyclopedia will be a four volume work of approximately 1,250,000 words (roughly 2,000 printed pages) and will be ready for production in mid to late 2006. The first three volumes of the work will consist of A-Z entries, and a fourth volume will be made up of documentary, photographic and visual resources. The content of this last volume will be assembled by the Encyclopedia's editors. The three A-Z volumes will include a general introduction to the field of the Social and Cultural Foundations of Education, combined with 14 essays (approximately 5,000 words each), representing the major disciplines (Philosophy, History, Sociology, etc.). These will anchor the work. Approximately 150 long entries (2,500 words each), 300 medium entries (1,000 words each) and 400 short entries (250 words each) will fill out the rest of the Encyclopedia.
