The Exhibit of the American negroes was created in large part through the efforts of W. B. B. DuBois, Thomas Calloway and many of the historic Black colleges. Mostly founded after the Civil War, the schools who sent materials to Paris were all located in the South. Most of what was sent included included, student papers and a limited number of three dimensional objects.
