The School of Education has long been noted for its excellence. That standing was recently reaffirmed in a survey conducted by U.S. News and World Report magazine that ranked our graduate school in the top 50 graduate schools of Education in the nation.
First offering teacher education programs in 1926, the School has grown dramatically, housing three departments: the Department of Teaching and Learning, the Department of Educational and Psychological Studies, and the Department of Exercise and Sport Sciences.
There are approximately 230 undergraduate students and 560 graduate students enrolled in the School. Located on a tropical campus in beautiful Coral Gables, Florida, the administrative offices are located in the historic Merrick Building.
During 2003, the School of Education received well over $7,000,000 in research grants and externally funded projects from various public and private agencies. With accreditation by the APA (American Psychological Association), the School of Education remains one of the most prestigious institutions of higher learning in the Southeast.
