Since 1998, Marie K. Grimes-Davis has been director of the School of Education’s Upward Bound Program, which provides academic, postsecondary and personal counseling to minority high-school students. She manages the program, and serves as liaison for the University of Miami, target schools and outside agencies.
Grimes-Davis has extensive background in counseling high school students with educational, career and vocational planning. From 1987 to 1998, she was an advisor at the university’s Academic Development Center, assisting freshman and sophomore students, and coordinating personal, educational and career counseling programs.
During that period, she also served as a senior staff associate in the Benefits Administration department of the university, where her responsibilities included coordinating Annual Open Enrollment. She was also an assistant director and counseling coordinator for Florida Memorial College’s Upward Bound Program.
Grimes-Davis joined the University of Miami in 1985, after earning her B.A. in Communication/Public Relations and M.A. in Liberal Studies/Education from the university. |
