Clinical Experiences

The students will receive clinical experiences at the collegiate level, local high schools, sports medicine clinics, and possibly with professional teams and organizations. Additionally, other special events in the community may be covered such as marathons, and special olympic events.

TrainersClinical hours gained during clinical rotations count towards the total number of hours necessary to be eligible for graduation. In all clinical rotations, students will be supervised by NATA-BOC certified and Florida licensed athletic trainers.

Generally, each student's clinical rotations will begin with large team sports where they will begin to become proficient at the skills necessary to become an athletic trainer. The student that progresses through the clinical rotations will be placed with an upper class athletic training student to aid in the mentoring process. An approved Clinical Instructor will supervise each student while they apply their skills and clinical knowledge in real life situations.

Additionally, on the clinical component, students should keep in mind that the majority of the clinical hours would be accumulated in team coverage that occurs between the hours of noon and 7:00 PM Monday through Friday. Events do happen on the weekend so these clinical rotations may include Saturday and Sunday events as well. Clinicals may also include travel.
